Queen Elizabeth II: the epitome of sophistication and style

As The Queen wraps up her Jubilee Celebrations I thought this to be the perfect opportunity to look back over the years in a tribute to Her Majesty’s ever-glamorous style and regal sophistication.  From a young princess to becoming the Queen of England she has proven that good grace and a sense of elegance never go out of style.

“I have in sincerity pledged myself to your service, as so many of you are pledged to mine. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust.”
– Queen Elizabeth

To what greater inspiration and counsel can we turn than to the imperishable truth to be found in this treasure house, the Bible?
– Queen Elizabeth II

“The lessons from the peace process are clear; whatever life throws at us, our individual responses will be all the stronger for working together and sharing the load.”
– Queen Elizabeth II
“Like all the best families, we have our share of eccentricities, of impetuous and wayward youngsters and of family disagreements.”
– Queen Elizabeth II

“When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”
– from the Queen’s Christmas message in 2008

Do it, Anyway

These series of quotations, written by Dr. Kent Keith have long inspired me to strive to be a caring, forgiving, and loving woman – everything that a lady must possess.  Mother Teresa hung a version of this on the wall of Shishu Bhavan, the children’s home in Calcutta.

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;

forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

be kind anyway.

If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies;

succeed anyway.

If you are honest people may cheat you;

be honest anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;

be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

do good anyway.

and finally…

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;

Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the end, it is between you and God;

it was never between you and them anyway.
