Sometimes less is more, as evidenced in Oscar de Renta’s 2014 Resort collection. The mood for this collection was particularly bright and cheery, with pops of colour and pretty floral patterns embellishing simple silhouettes.
This collection combined both traditional and modern patterns cut in crisp, tailored style suits with draped ’50’s style dresses. The fabrics were captivating in gorgeous shades of cobalt blue through to sweet tones of pink. Floral dresses, peplum tops and other ladylike characteristics were strong features within the collection.

I’m super excited to release my first ‘Outfit of the Day’ column!
Last weekend I attended a gorgeous winter Cocktail Party. The Hollywood-Glamour theme was beautifully tied into the evening’s events from diamond-encrusted table settings, Oscar-style speeches and the most delightful collection of ladies and gentlemen dressed in their finest!
The weather was very much in tune with the evening’s wintery feel and it started to pour as we were walking out the door so I exchanged my summery heels for a more practical (and comfortable!) closed-toe pair. I’m so glad I did as we did alot of walking!
I donned a simple ’60’s style cocktail length dress with a embellished bodice and box pleats in a gorgeous chiffon fabric paired with a faux-fur bolero.
After bowing to pressure from the public, British fashion brand M&S has promised customers that 90% of their dresses in their fall collection will feature both 1/2 and 3/4 length sleeves. If you’re like me, you might be thinking its time for a fresh, few fashion look in the sleeves department. Perhaps its finally time to finally toss the strapless/sleeveless look!
The chain’s new style director has made a new pledge to customers: “‘You told us you wanted dresses with sleeves, so for autumn 90per cent will have sleeves. I can personally promise that I mean real sleeves, full, three-quarters and half.” This promise came after customers criticized the brand of the dominance of unflattering sleeveless and cap-sleeve dresses.
The new collection will feature bright pops of colour and longer hemlines with a greater use of wool, silk and cashmere fabrics.
I have a suspicion that M&S won’t be the only fashion label to bring sleeves back… Just take a peek at our latest fashion raves for a subtle hint.

How-to fashion/style column/OOTD came third and is a feature which interests me greatly. Along with suggestions of commencing a new column featuring my personal style (OOTD) I look forward to creating a new addition to Grace and Poise.
Youtube. Second-to-last votes went to creating a YouTube channel. While this is something that I would love to do and I realise that many of you have voted that you’d like to see this feature I recognised that at this point in time it will have to be put on the back-burner.
Frequency in posting was what many of you voted for. It is definatly something that I would like to improve on and I’ll promise to do my best a featuring posts more regulary. However, due to work and study commitments I can’t make any great promises.
