After bowing to pressure from the public, British fashion brand M&S has promised customers that 90% of their dresses in their fall collection will feature both 1/2 and 3/4 length sleeves. If you’re like me, you might be thinking its time for a fresh, few fashion look in the sleeves department. Perhaps its finally time to finally toss the strapless/sleeveless look!
The chain’s new style director has made a new pledge to customers: “‘You told us you wanted dresses with sleeves, so for autumn 90per cent will have sleeves. I can personally promise that I mean real sleeves, full, three-quarters and half.” This promise came after customers criticized the brand of the dominance of unflattering sleeveless and cap-sleeve dresses.
The new collection will feature bright pops of colour and longer hemlines with a greater use of wool, silk and cashmere fabrics.
I have a suspicion that M&S won’t be the only fashion label to bring sleeves back… Just take a peek at our latest fashion raves for a subtle hint.

That is FANTASTIC news! Now if we can get them to make wedding dresses with sleeves….I’m so sick of seeing every bride in strapless wedding gowns. Few can pull that off well.
Hi Michele, thanks for popping by… You’ll be delighted to know sleeves are definitely coming back in for wedding dresses (thanks to Kate Middleton!)
Oh, it’s more than time! Modesty and femininity are far overdue for a comeback. This makes me so happy! 🙂
Hi Shani! Yes and yes! Thanks for stopping by, Grace & Poise! xx
Very exciting! Makes me want to buy more dresses with longer sleeves! It sends the message that you are confident enough to not have to show everything but still feel sexy.
Absolutely, Tabitha!
This is great!! I’ve been looking for more modest apparel. So excited!
Hi Kwajalyn! Don’t forget to check out my Pinterst page for more elegant fashion inspirations! Thanks for visiting! xx
Bravo! I am thrilled that sleeves are finally returning! As someone who has lymphedema in my arms from cancer surgery, I dislike showing my arms and compression sleeve. The return of sleeves is a welcomed relief!
Yes! Much classier, in my opinion.
I think so too, Moriah! xx
I love the idea of original femininity returning 🙂
Yes, so do I!
I just want to say how much I enjoy your blog. How wonderful to have someone in blogland who encourages “grace and poise”.
I’m also pleased to hear of the return of sleeves. I tried on so many dresses this spring (for a family wedding) and almost all of them were sleeveless. I’m not comfortable wearing sleeveless and welcome the return of a more classic look.
Thank you for your kind words, Sandra. It’s always so nice to hear readers thoughts! Yes, I think its wonderful to see sleeves making a comeback!
This makes me excited. I am a 3/4 sleeve person myself. I’m not really for the sleeveless look. I’m looking forward for the new change.
I didn’t know sleeves were out, but I will say this; I’ll make sure that when I get a girlfriend, she does wear sleeves.
